Why is it so hard to ask for help? Moving with children is an overwhelming task. Why wouldn’t someone what to help?
In this article from the New York Times, the author outlines some of the reasons people typically don’t ask for help when they need it. The danger, she writes, is that “stalling can let the situation grow from a problem into a crisis.” No one wants to be in crisis. However, we might inadvertently put ourselves on that path because we don’t want to appear deficient or be a burden to anyone else.
The truth is we all have something to give. When we ask for help, we provide the opportunity for others to use their gifts and talents to help. Asking for help is actually a GIFT!!
So, when you’re feeling stressed and overwhelmed, reach out. Someone is waiting for you to open their GIFT. For more on asking for help, see our previous post on ReSOURCES of Strength.
